antique-teak-slab-bench-53
Antique Teak Slab Bench 53"

Some pieces arrive already finished by time. This bench was pulled from an old structure in rural India, its pale teak slab weathered over decades into a tone that no craftsman can replicate in a workshop. The grain has opened. The surface has taken on the silver-warm quality that only comes from years of honest use and honest neglect. What you are looking at is not a finish. It is what the wood became on its own.
Set it in an entryway and the entry becomes the first thing guests remember about your home. Place a single ceramic vessel at one end, nothing more, and the restraint itself becomes the statement. Against a dark plastered wall the pale slab holds the light and the room arranges itself around it. It is the kind of piece that makes everything else look more considered.
At this age, in this condition, no two pieces are the same and none can be made again. The tonal variation, the pale grain, the quiet authority of this slab are particular to this bench and nothing else.

Material: Solid reclaimed teak, bleached by age
Dimensions: L 53 × W 11 × H 18 in
Condition: Vintage, naturally aged
Origin: India

Every piece in our collection is sourced by hand.
