Description
This marble tray spent decades in an Indian household as a kharal, a grinding vessel used to prepare medicines, spices and herbs by hand. The patina, the surface marks and the earthy tone that shifts across the stone did not come from a craftsman's finish. They came from use. From hands that worked it every day until it was no longer needed for what it was made for.
Rest it on a dressing table with perfume bottles arranged on top and the surface becomes a reason to pause each morning. Place it on a bathroom vanity as a catchall for rings and small objects. Set it on a console with a candle and a single stem and the corner becomes a composition.
