Caring for your piece

A little care helps your piece live a long life with you. Age marks and softened edges are part of its character, not damage.

For every piece

  • Dust with a dry, soft cloth. It's nearly all most pieces need.

  • Avoid direct sun, heaters and vents. They fade finishes and crack wood and clay.

  • Lift, don't drag. Carry it by the base with both hands.

  • Treat it as décor. We can't know what an antique once held, so please don't use pieces for food or drink.

  • Test first. Try any cleaner or wax on a hidden spot.
  • Wood

Dust with a dry cloth, and buff in a little natural paste wax once or twice a year. Avoid soaking and silicone sprays.

  • Marble & Stone

Dust, or wipe with a barely damp cloth. Avoid vinegar, citrus, wine and harsh cleaners, which dull marble. Carry with both hands.

  • Clay

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. As a planter, use a liner pot and saucer, and bring it inside before frost.

  • Furniture

Dust, or wipe a mark with a barely damp cloth. Avoid bleach, ammonia and abrasive pads.

The Things You Live With Should Be Worth Living With.

We believe the most beautiful things in a home are the ones that have already proven themselves: made well, used honestly, and kept because they were worth keeping. Every decision we make at Project Kalaā flows from that belief. We source with intention because these objects deserve to be chosen carefully. We research every story because every object deserves to have its history told. We pack with exceptional care because something that has survived a century deserves to survive the journey to your door. And we build relationships with our customers because the person who brings one of these objects home deserves to know exactly what they are holding and why it matters.
